Safety@The Hall

Our approach to safety

We want everyone who uses Leadenham Village Hall to feel safe, comfortable and confident. The hall is regularly inspected, maintained and risk assessed to support a wide range of events, from small meetings to larger community and private functions.

Leadenham Village Hall is managed by volunteers who take health and safety seriously. We follow a risk-based approach that is appropriate to a community venue, ensuring the hall is safe, well maintained and compliant with relevant regulations.

Safeguarding at the Hall

Leadenham Village Hall is used by a wide range of community groups, private hirers and organisations, including activities involving children, young people and adults at risk.

We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who uses the hall.

Safeguarding requirements apply where an activity or event involves:

  • Children or young people under the age of 18
  • Adults at risk of abuse or neglect
  • Regulated or organised activities delivered by groups or organisations

Private social events for invited friends and family (such as birthday parties or wedding receptions) are normally excluded.

Fire safety and emergency evacuation

The hall is fitted with fire detection, alarms, emergency lighting and clearly marked fire exits. Fire action notices and evacuation plans are displayed throughout the building.

If the fire alarm sounds, everyone must leave the building immediately using the nearest safe exit and proceed to the designated assembly point.

Event organisers must familiarise themselves with fire exits and keep escape routes clear at all times.

Responsibilities of event organisers

Leadenham Village Hall provides a safe venue. The organiser is responsible for the safe management of their event and activities.
